Envy

Envy
Claire Adderholt
We reach,
desperate,
For each other’s embers, each
other’s glories.
Lanterns glow above us on the hill.
Shining into the dark.
Avarice licking and licking at the gates.
Amid this
Our Being itself (divine
spark)
Is a lighthouse
Roaring across the dark.
