Communion

like oats and molasses
intertwined
with passing time
our love grows ever stronger

my verses and your music have shined
for fourteen years of our shared journey

marooned in our flat
during pandemic time; working
and caring for our precious toddler
we lost and found
our home's hearth
in active listening and in wise council

as August yields fresh fruits
of our enduring love
we celebrate our marriage
and God's blessings

I dream of anniversaries ahead, and dancing
slowly dancing with you at our son's wedding
