Cosmos in Your Voice

Cosmos in Your Voice

Cosmos In Your Voice

Ilana Reimer

There are worlds between the words
I use to summarize you.
I grasp at adjectives and imagery—

Are you gardener or lover?
Yet before there were either,
You were still you.

This is where you lose me,
As if I weren’t already lost.
God! How can I know you?

Perhaps you have no end
But all things I know die.
How can I speak of eternity

When I have never seen it?
Perhaps you are Word
But what is a word?

A few syllables uttered,
Pen-scratched for our benefit
While you fit the cosmos in your voice.
