Jezebel Calls Herself a Prophet

Julie L. Moore

Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. ~ Revelation 2:20

I really am sorry you feel that way.
Let me make it up to you.

I’m washed white as snow, so
you can join me without worry

at the Thyatira temple—what’s a little
Apollo between friends?—

we’ll dine on the best meat
in town and do some important

business. After all, you have to make
a living. And the price is right.

I can find you purple dye
for less than Lydia’s

and read your palms
at the same damn time!

If you’re lonely, well, I can
help with that, too. Jesus loves you.

In his name, I have dispatched angels
from Africa! In need of prayer?

I pray without ceasing with words you
can’t believe. We can have it all, you know.

I’ll keep you safe and satisfied.
I’ll keep the dogs at bay.
